Angling - Help, I'm a Freshwater Fisherman!
So what? One of the intriguing aspects of angling in Guernsey is that a great deal of sea fishing is done with fresh water tackle. Apart from the obvious need for standard beach gear for general bottom fishing, no self respecting Guernsey sea angler would be without a carp or spinning rod for use with a sliding float, or for plugging for bass.
There is no finer weaponry to tackle the feisty grey mullet than a set of heavy freshwater match tackle, or a light ledgering rod. It's not unknown to bring a fly rod or even a pole into play.
The point is that any or all of these can be used with varying degrees of success to catch local species, and many coarse and game fishing techniques translate effectively into fishing on the shore.
