Angling - Where to Stay
Let's face it - anglers are a demanding bunch and require a number of facilities that not every type of accommodation can provide. We went out to our accommodation sector and have compiled a list of establishments that provide everything that the angling visitor might require. As follows:
Equipment Storage
Most anglers carry large amounts of tackle and equipment, a good deal of which is very expensive.
Clothing
All manner of bulky weatherproof clothing and footwear will need somewhere to be stored, and preferably dried.
Bait
Anglers need bait like a fish needs water, and the mini fridge in the hotel room is not the best place to store it. Adequate fridge space for live and fresh bait supplies, and a dedicated freezer for frozen baits and of course the catch.
The Catch
Apart from the requirement for freezer space, anglers require somewhere, preferably outdoors, with running water, where they can clean and prepare their catch and their equipment.
Other
Shore anglers tend to be hungry (and sometimes thirsty), but it is not in their nature to eat at regular times. Flexibility with meal times, especially at breakfast, and the ready availability of packed lunches. Anglers tend to keep odd hours, as time and tide wait for no man or woman.
Please visit the Where to Stay section of our main website for angling friendly hotels, which are marked with an icon. Alternatively, contact the Guernsey Information Centre.
