Coastline – Cliffs
From Guernsey’s south east coast to its north west tip you will find spectacular cliffs with beautiful bays, secluded coves and harbours and scrumptious cakes at cafes and kiosks.
South of Guernsey’s capital St Peter Port, is La Valette, together with outdoor seawater bathing pools built in Victorian times. From here the land rises steeply forming the start of the Island’s cliffs.
It is possible to walk the length of the cliffs but be prepared for breathtaking views, an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife, and the sense of being away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday grind.
Popular with locals and visitors for walking, the cliffs also offer opportunities for anglers, wildlife enthusiasts, those wanting a more secluded beach, as well as those that enjoy their heritage.
The cliffs are peppered with fortifications, some from the Nazi occupation of the Island (1940 – 45) and others dating back to Napoleonic times.
Whatever your interest, you will find it hard not to be captivated by the beauty of our south coast.
