| UIM 2 LITRE POWER BOAT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS |
| Following on from the fantastic success of the 2006 & 2007 opening rounds of the Royal Yachting Association UK National Offshore Powerboat series in Guernsey the Union Internationale Motonautiqe awarded the island the 2008 2 litre Offshore Powerboat World Championships. This event will see teams battle for the famous & coveted crown of UIM 2 Litre Offshore Powerboat World Champions over a series of 3 races. The courses will run in the exciting waters between Guernsey & Sark & will start & finish outside St. Peter Port. Spectators will be able to see the racing action from vantage points along St Peter Ports sea front & & elsewhere on Guernsey's south east coast. The action is guaranteed not to disappoint with 30+ closely matched boats battling it out in the Islands challenging waters! The race pits and entertainment areas are to be situated on the East arm of the QE2 marina. Here the high tech race boats will be on full display to the public with teams expected from Italy, France, Scandinavia and many other countries competing in a variety of boat designs. The event is organised and run by the Guernsey Powerboat Association and the UK Offshore Racing Drivers Association. |

| GUERNSEY REGATTA |
| The 2008 Guernsey Regatta this year focuses strongly on the Islands local sea heritage.
Music Programme
The Regatta Stage will be the main focus of the onshore programme with a wide variety of music styles. All the musicians involved will be local a very important element for the 2008 Guernsey Regatta. Live music will be provided each evening from 6-10pm.
Daytime Entertainment
The daytime entertainment will include the following:
Guernsey History in Action performing a heritage play with a sea theme
Cookery demonstration involving seafood
Street Art pick up a colourful chalk and draw a fish in the ocean scene
Childrens afternoon with bouncy castles, craft area and face painters
Regatta Village
A small Regatta Village will be erected to house a bar, catering concession and stage as well as a clubhouse for the visiting yachtsmen for their race briefings and prize givings. There will also be indoor and outdoor seating for visitors to enjoy a drink on the harbourside. (Opening times 4pm-11.30pm (Thurs) 11am-11.30pm (Fri to Sun).
Offshore Programme
A relaxed programme of cruising and racing includes around Sark race and racing in the Russell. Also a pilotage to learn about sailing in local waters. A concours delegance a fashion show for boats is held over the weekend with prizes awarded to boats in three age categories.
